The Toshiba DR670 is a DVD recorder announced at the CES 2009 that features recording and playback abilities for DVD-R, -RW, +R, and +RW media disc formats. The third of four Toshiba D digital video recorders, the Toshiba DR670 is an upgrade from the Toshiba DR620 in that it adds along ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners for picking up signals, not to mention connectivity options for HDMI, composite A/V, and component cables.

In all other ways, however, the DR670 is practically a duplicate of its peer. For instance, the DVR670 also features a DVD/VCR combination recorder. Plus the DR670 also offers HDMI-CEC for syncing entertainment devices to one remote. In addition, the DR670 boasts auto-finalization for formatting created-DVDs so that they can be played on other devices, 1080p up-conversion capabilities, and HDMI output for high-quality HD video playback. Slated to drop in March 2009, the Toshiba DR620 will retail for $249.99 (versus $179.99) and come with a 1 year limited warranty.

BTDT:
#toshiba_dvr670 First dvr (can't remember modet #) wouldn't work, sent it back twice, finally sent me dvr 660, which had a digigal coaxale for sound instead of digital optical which I was set up for but any way kept it which was a mistake. It rejected 2 out of 3 new disks and finally wouldn't accept any. Kept getting error message, couldn't dub old family movies I had on vhs tapes, been looking for good vcr/dvr recorder with a better than average rating and it appears the JVC 150 meets that expectation, will see if I can get a good price on one Friday after Thanksgiving. I have a good Toshiba TV that is 10 yrs old and works great yet but would not recomend their DVD, DVR/VCR Recorders.
