Toshiba DR570
$180.00
Released April, 2009
The Pros:Built-in tuner makes setting up recording times very easy. Recorded shows picture quality is clear, seems completely lossless from broadcast quality. Recorded media can be played in other DVD players without a problem.
The Cons:Loading disks takes a little more time than it should. Remote can never be used as universal - lacks volume controls. Black remote and dull gray labels make it hard to read.
The Toshiba DR570 is a DVD recorder announced at the CES 2009 that features recording and playback abilities for DVD-R, -RW, +R, and +RW media disc formats. The second of four Toshiba D digital video recorders, the Toshiba DR570 is an upgrade from the Toshiba DR420 in that it adds along ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners for picking up signals and HDMI-CEC for syncing entertainment devices to one remote.

Other than those additional features, the DR570 is practically a duplicate of its peer. For instance, the DR570 also features auto-finalization for formatting created-DVDs so that they can be played on other devices. In addition, the DR570 offers 1080p up-conversion capabilities and HDMI inputs for high-quality HD video playback. Slated to drop in April 2009, the Toshiba DR570 will retail for a slightly more expensive $179.99 (versus $119.99) and come with a 1 year limited warranty.
