The Pros:Easy to setup and use, very intuitive design. Simple and attractive design, looks good on the shelf.
The Cons:Has a hard time reading discs, inconsistent performance. Instruction manual is poorly written, doesn't cover many of the functions. Will sometimes stop recording and shut down by itself.
The JVC DR-MV79B is a DVD/VCR video recorder combo from JVC's 2008 lineup and is a step down from the DR-MV100B. Unlike the DR-MV100B, the DVD recorder is tunerless and instead features JVC's Timer Link technology for recording TV programs via an AV connection.

It offers 1080p up-conversion for improved audio and video quality and is also capable of VHS-to-DVD dubbing. The DR-MV79B supports playback of DivX files and offers a variety of playback and recording formats including –R/RW, +R/RW and DVD-RAM discs. It features progressive scan output and has a variety of connectivity options including an HDMI output and a convenient front-panel DV input for hooking up a camcorder to the device. The video recorder has an MSRP of $200 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.
